Protecting Public Health by Tobacco Control
Trading Standards Services in London protect young people by: - advising traders of the law eg the recent raising of the smoking age to 18
- carrying out test purchases (using young volunteers in strictly controlled conditions) prosecuting where appropriate
How does LoTSA help? Through its Benchmarking and Service Development Group, LoTSA members can compare results and methods and explore new initiativesto use in their local area. LoTSA is currently bidding for £333,000 of Department of Health money to be spent by its members on Tobacco Control Work in the capital in the next twelve months - extra funding for local services that would not be available without a regional contract. LoTSA also contributes to public health by restricting under-age sales of alcohol - click here for more information |
